SURFACES
With any surface we look to provide a secure footing with spring to allow your horse to develop its paces and show an improved way of going. With correct maintenance, we fully expect our surfaces to perform for many years. Some of our arenas were installed over 10 years ago and are still performing well.

SILICA SAND
We used multi washed, sub angular silica sand which allows for heavy compaction and good drainage. The angular grains maintain firmness, whilst providing a comfortable and cushioned feel. The sand is graded to remove clay and silt to promote firmness whilst aiding drainage. Silica sand with a rounded grain should be avoided as the particles do not bind and this causes the surface to ride far too deep. Its forms the base of many surfaces and works well with the addition of fibres to retain the moisture and stability. All sands will perform better with moisture and throughout prolonged dry spells it is advisable to water the surface (In fairness this hardly ever happens in the North East)
STABILISING FIBRES
The fibres are made up of a combination of polyester, polypropylene, sponge rubber and a bit of polyurethane. They are extremely effective at providing stability, consistency and moisture retention to new and existing surfaces. If using silica sand on its own the horse will ride in to the surface rather than on the surface. When the fibres are blended with the silica sand they improve the stability and enable the horse to ride on top of the surface. The fibre is purely synthetic and therefore it will not break down or degrade.
RUBBER
Equestrian rubber crumb is processed through a granulator, washed and screened. The rubber is shredded to approx. 20mm. It helps to keep the frost of underlying surfaces and makes your arena rideable in winter months. It can be supplied to existing or new arenas and is best utilised on top of a silica and fibre surface. The rubber gives additional frost resistance to the surface; helps retain the moisture in the fibres preventing the rubber mixing with the silica. It provides a cushioned non slip surface suitable for all disciplines.
WAXED SURFACES
Provide increased stability, eliminate the possibility of dust and remove the need for irrigation. These are available premixed and are an ideal surface for an indoor arena. The hot wax coats a combination of silica sand, fibres, polypropylene, polyester fibres and PVC.
Requires no watering
Dust free
Requires minimum maintenance
Frost resistant
Gives a secure, forgiving surface that reduces repetitive strain injury
Synthetic fibres act as a root structure similar to turf allowing horses to freely travel over the surface.
WOODGRAIN
Our woodgrain surface is a good budget surface which is very affordable. It is also an ideal surface for indoor and outdoor arenas, lunging pens and turn out areas.
It is a very free draining surface offering riding all year round. It has a very low frost penetration factor and is very low maintenance. Being a natural product though it will decompose over time and will require removing and topping up more frequently than a sand based surface.
EQUIBOUND
Equibound Is a low maintenance, cost effective surface that reduces the risk of injury, lameness and strain due to its absorbency. It is a surface which is suitable for all disciplines. It has great interlocking properties and can be used in two different ways depending on how firm a riding surface you like. It provides a non-
